Brad Buecker
Brad Buecker has years of experience in or affiliated with the power and water treatment industries, much of it in steam generation chemistry, high-purity makeup water production, cooling water treatment, air quality control, and results engineering positions with City Water, Light & Power (Springfield, Illinois) and Kansas City Power & Light Company’s (now Evergy) La Cygne, Kansas station.
He also spent two years as acting water/wastewater supervisor at a chemical plant, and eleven years with two engineering firms, Burns & McDonnell Engineers and Kiewit Engineering. Buecker has a B.S. in chemistry from Iowa State University with additional course work in fluid mechanics, energy and materials balances, and advanced inorganic chemistry.
He has authored or co-authored over 300 articles for numerous technical trade magazines, and he has written three books on power plant chemistry and air pollution control. He served as senior technical editor for the ChemTreat Water Essentials handbook, which is being released in digital installments on the company website.
Buecker is a member of ACS, AIChE, AIST, ASME, AWT, CTI, and the Electric Utility and Cogeneration Chemistry Workshop planning committee. He is active with Power Gen International and the International Water Conference (IWC), and he received the 2013 IWC Paul Cohen Award and the 2022 IWC Award of Merit. He serves on the International Advisory Board for PPCHEM Journal and is on the Editorial Advisory Board for Water Technology magazine.
